I am a long time fan of the Kim Stone books and I believe this is the fourteenth in the series, yet they still feel fresh and exciting.
Twisted Lies is dark, gritty, brutal and gory – it is well paced and the story line is packed full of tension and sub plots.
I couldn’t quite believe what I was reading when Stone is forced to take her arch enemy the seemingly low on morality reporter, Tracy Frost, out for a ‘ridealong’ day. Needless to say this puts Frost in pole position for an investigation and as ever she flirts with danger. This opens up some great interplay between Kim and Frost and I wonder if this will shape the direction of their relations for future books.
As suggested by the title, there are many twisted lies, half truths, and secrets that powerful people would do a lot to ensure stay hidden. There is risk and peril for practically every character as the story unfolds and the death count rises.
Overall this is an intense, gruesome and pacy read with a dual storyline, many deaths and lots at stake. Angela Marsons has delivered another cracking installment in the Kim Stone series and I look forward to reading more. My thanks to the author, Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC in return for an honest review.
