Last Bank Holiday by Christina Delmonte

4 Stars from me

What starts out as a much needed family break in tranquil surroundings rapidly turns into the stuff of nightmares for a young couple and their twin daughters when a seemingly opportunistic burglar enters their holiday home while they are sleeping.

The devastating fall out from that night makes for an exciting psychological thriller in which the author juggles a murky past, horrible injuries, and an emotional breakdown alongside a sweet storyline about aging parents and dementia. There are some truly touching scenes among all of the surrounding horror.

The recovery and actions of key players in the aftermath of the event are not as you would expect them to be and this opens up several intriguing lines of inquiry both for the police, and for the reader!

I was surprised to see that this is a debut novel and I will be interested to see what is next from this author. I hope they stick to psychological thrillers as this was a great one and I look forward to reading their next one!

Overall, fans of the genre will love this book and I am grateful to the author and Zooloos Book Tours for letting me be a part of this blog tour.
