I can honestly say I wish that I had never read a single Michael Wood book, because then I’d have to whole lot to discover and enjoy all over again!
Below Ground brings the story to where it seems to have been heading for a long time – Matilda is missing, taken, but is she held hostage or has she been murdered?
Not to mention who on earth would be foolish enough to take her?!
It is hard to explain quite how much I love reading about these characters. They are alive in my mind and I wish beyond all reason that one day they will be brought to life and get to star in their own TV series, rubbing shoulders with the good and the great of the crime thrillers and tv detectives who have gone before them.
DCI Matilda Darke is the perfect heroine but in Below Ground it is time for her team to shine and shine they do as they pull together to find her – but will they be in time? And what will be the collateral damage along the way…
I simply cannot recommend these books enough and if you are new to the Matilda Darke series – you are in for a treat:
Making of a Murderer
The Fallen
For Reasons Unknown
Outside Looking In
A Room Full of Killers
The Hangman’s Hold
Stolen Children
The Murder House
Time Is Running Out
Survivor’s Guilt
The Lost Children
The Seventh Victim
And out on audio book only: Vengeance Is Mine and Chapter One.
Blurb: A MISSING DETECTIVE
DCI Matilda Darke has been kidnapped and her nemesis, Steve Harrison appears to be behind it. He’s currently residing in the supermax of Wakefield Prison and spends twenty-three hours a day in his cell, so how could he possibly be responsible?
A SERIAL KILLER WITH A VENGEANCE
As Matilda’s team race to find her, they’re alerted to a body found in an abandoned car on the outskirts of Sheffield. With forensics scouring the woodland for clues, the last thing they expect is for the body count to rise.
A RACE AGAINST TIME
Meanwhile the search intensifies for the DCI when a video of her kidnapping is leaked to the media. And as she desperately tries to uncover what has led to her being held captive in an underground cell, she’s about to find out how much danger she’s truly in.
If Matilda’s team don’t find her soon, they might not find her at all…
