After That Night by Karin Slaughter

4.5 Stars from me

Love Will Trent! Can’t bring myself to watch the TV series though.

Anyway, poor Sara has been through A LOT in her life and this book drags her back to a particularly dark period of time in which what should have been a wonderful evening turned into a living nightmare and a life changing assault.

So when a woman attends the ER bearing strikingly similar injuries to those Sara sustained all those years ago – meaning there could be a serial offender who is still active – she feels compelled to get to the bottom of it for once and for all.

The dynamic between Will and Sara is fab although in truth I did have a soft spot for his ex-wife and I miss her a bit from these stories.

After That Night is yet another intelligently plotted, deep, dark, enthralling read from the powerhouse that is Karin Slaughter and I massively enjoyed it.

Blurb: Fifteen years ago, Sara Linton’s life changed forever when a celebratory night out ended in a violent attack that tore her world apart. Since then, Sara has remade her life. A successful doctor, engaged to a man she loves, she has finally managed to leave the past behind her.

Until one evening, on call in the ER, everything changes. Sara battles to save a broken young woman who’s been brutally attacked. But as the investigation progresses, led by GBI Special Agent Will Trent, it becomes clear that Dani Cooper’s assault is uncannily linked to Sara’s.

And it seems the past isn’t going to stay buried forever.
