Goodness me what a ride! The story begins with an intimate glimpse into the lives of married couple Tom and Claire, it’s evident that they’ve been in a bit of a lull as happens in long term relationships but recently things have perked up again and main protagonist Claire is feeling warm, loved and content.
This description of mundane life and the struggle for human connection even within a relationship is superbly captured and sets the scene well for what comes next.
So when Tom goes missing and Claire begins to search for him there is so much to unpack. As a reader it feels like a 50/50 call as to whether he has run off with another woman or if he’s being held against his will.
I found myself absolutely racing through the pages as Claire and her ex-boyfriend set off to look for clues in Tom’s past that might help establish where he is now. I couldn’t help but admire Claire for her dogged determination in tracking down her missing husband – there were so many moments fraught with tension, and several occasions where I found myself muttering ‘no no don’t do that, oh for god’s sake don’t do that‘ as she put herself in seemingly endless amounts of danger.
I loved the amount of doubt that follows Claire and Adam on the journey, doubt of what has happened, doubt of who is involved, and doubt of what they will find when they inevitably do find Tom. Adam was a stellar character, can’t say I particularly warmed to Claire or Tom.
Any fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this book – my thanks to Netgalley, the author and Joffe books for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Blurb: I get a call from the school. My husband hasn’t picked up our 7-year-old daughter.
This is the day my life changes for ever.
Earlier, I was scrolling through Facebook when something caught my eye. A photograph. The caption beneath: PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME? HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?
It’s my husband and our daughter.
The man I married eight years ago isn’t who I thought he was at all. My husband has been lying to me . . . about everything.
AN EXHILARATING BLEND OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE, NAIL-BITING TENSION WITH A SHATTERING FINAL TWIST.
Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst, T.M. Logan, Anya Mora, T.J. Brearton and Shari Lapena.
