4 Stars from me
What starts off feeling like a reasonably easy psychological thriller rapidly descends into an exploration of just how far people will go when their backs are against the wall. The transition from girls weekend away to dark psychological thriller is rapid and utterly engrossing.
As with most friendship groups there are already a few slightly fractured lines and the behaviours and different values of the friends would be in interesting storyline on it’s own but then a few ill-considered choices mean that things very quickly get out of hand.
I Was Watching You feeds into paranoia and is full of loose threads and unreliable characters. You’d need a blank wall and a ball of red string to keep track of this lot as they appear to all be up to something, have hidden connections, and lots to hide!
The story takes increasingly macabre turns as it heads to it’s deadly conclusion.
My thanks to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for my place on this blog tour.
Blurb: I WAS WATCHING YOU is a fast-paced psychological suspense thriller that will have you turning the pages well into the night.
When city girls Faye, Zara and Heidi book a weekend away at a remote cottage in rural Wales, it is intended to be the perfect detox from their hectic lives. But they let a stranger into the cottage…and they return home with a dark secret they don’t want exposed.
Five months later and their lives have returned to normal. They think they have gotten away with it. And then a hand-delivered photograph drops through each of their letterboxes.
They were watched.
But who watched them?
What do they want?
And how far are the friends prepared to go to keep their secret?
