I always jump at the chance to read Miranda Rijks books and The Influencer was every bit as good as I have come to expect from this author.

Social media influencer, Skye, rose to stardom after being plucked from the streets by lonely rich girl Tiffany who persuades her family to let her stay. Having tasted the highlife, Skye soon sets her sights on using her troubled past to provide financial security for her future.

The story flits between ‘then’ and ‘now’ and both are equally exciting and compelling – although the antics of the adult Skye were the most fascinating part for me. She appears to be a psychopathic narcissist and that makes her super engaging to read about! Nothing is out of bounds for this little lady – if she wants it she goes after it and up until meeting Nathan, she usually gets it.

Nathan appears to be an all round good guy. A handsome, young widow and the father of two daughters, he runs a homelessness charity – swoon right! Well, despite him having a new partner on his arm, Skye decides that Nathan is the guy for her and she goes all out to win him over. By fair means or foul.

There follows a fascinating insight into the influencer world, wrapped around a clever and intriguing psychological thriller that kept my attention throughout.

This is yet another fast paced and all consuming read from Miranda Rijks, packed full of twists and uncomfortable tension.
